@Andrew:

Yea. It's the gap between theory and practice that's the hardest :p

I wish I had found this site a long time ago, primarily before I started learning to play the piano, which was just a few weeks ago.

I've often noticed that I seem to improve over time without practicing for many different skills, but I never really thought about it like this. The funny thing is, I've been reading many different entries on this site for a few hours now, and I'm starting to think that I should have taken a few more breaks to let all the information sink in! ;)

[...] Your subconscious mind simply starts thinking over thousands of possible scenarios, and learning for the future. It’s one of the reasons why when you stop training one day, and then come back 24 hours later, you’ll be much better than when you stopped the day before. (another reason is post-practice improvement.) [...]

Excellent guide on how to improve one's productivity. I know it is odd but I can relate this to how I developed as a video gamer. A few hours a day playing in different roles and always changing the approach or method that I would work on. Now I can play as little as an hour a day to keep my skills tuned.

I'm referring to first person shooters and real time strategy games if anyone is curious. They take a lot of skill to master on a higher level.

A bit of a rant (sorry). Keep the great articles coming!
