@Dalibor:

When I read it, I didn't think it was such a great book overall, but it definitely has some awesome moments. Like the snake and elephant one, I loved that :D

Idea 1 is also mentioned in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: The Little Prince when Little Prince. Little Prince is laughing in the night and main character after that is always laugh when look in the sky with stars.

It's a book really worth of reading.

I smile because it's fun. Connecting with people is a nice bonus, though ;)

Of these tips, I often do the last: smile for no reason. I think it's a good way to connect with people, although it must be limited for people of the same sex :D

@Salman:

I bow to you, sensei...

you're definitely further along the path of mastery of talking to random strangers!

And as to why people think you're smiling at them - it might have something to do with your frozen grin and your wide-open unblinking eyes ;)

In my case, people might be right in thinking I'm smiling about them. People often remind me of someone/something, and I just crack a big grin when I look at them. and they have no idea why... muhahahahaa!

Hey Vlad,
Gorgeous post there (gorgeous?) lol...

Been doing these things for quite a while now....
1. Smiling for no reason (AT ALL!)
2. Talking about random things to random strangers
3. Using senses in unusual ways

For no. 1, people here think I'm smiling at them ( and then start acting a bit cautiously about their behaviour). Thats kinda wicked, cuz they think I noticed something weird about them (as if people aren't weird), lol.

For no. 2, I randomly approach a person and start a totally random topic, and see how they react. VERY INTERESTING!

For no. 3, I usually notice how people go about doing things (at home, in the office, etc). U know, like how they walk, talk, what words they use, what expressions they give... etc etc. This has enabled me to predict behaviors and expressions for a lot of people....This is a great exercise in relationship management and a great social skill.... and the most fun.

And, its a personal opinion, but I think godzilla would win....:) . Lizards are more ferocious and besides, they can use their tail as well.... lol.

@FMVS:

Glad you like it :D

Now seriously though. Just yesterday a friend asked me who would win a fight between Godzilla and King Kong. And I have no idea. Can you help me with that?

@Simply Stephen:

Hmm, that sounds like a fun idea. There's plenty of research on how your expectations of people hugely influence how they act towards you. So linking fun and positive emotions with some people might just work :)

Vlad...as usual you bring a smile to my face.

Okay, a few thoughts - I think if you try talking to a stranger it helps if you act crazy first. Try filling a baby carriage with garbage first and then talking to them. Kidding - I'm really introverted but enjoy a chat with a stranger. Look for someone that seems like they need to be noticed, it will make their day.

As for the mundane objects - try applying this to mundane people and it will really perk up your view on them.
