Guest Post Marathon

by Vlad Dolezal on December 12, 2009

Update:I have completed the guest post marathon. You can find the guest posts I’ve written here: Guest Post Marathon Aftermath.

Inspired by Josh Hanagarne and Oscar Del Ben, I’m starting a guest post marathon!

Basically, starting right now, over the next two weeks, I will write as many guest posts as possible. Anybody can ask for one (yes, including you!). Just give me a topic, and I will write a guest post just for you!

Why am I doing this?

Let me give you the top 4 reasons I’m doing this:

  1. I love blogging
  2. It seems like a fun challenge
  3. I enjoy reaching new readers – your readers will discover I exist, and maybe like my guest post enough to check out Fun Life Development
  4. My Christmas holidays are starting, so I have plenty of free time. And I want to spend it doing something I love (see point 1.)

I could make up something about Christmas spirit and sharing because it’s the season, but that’s not true. I would have done this sooner, but my schedule was packed tighter than a fast-food-fed elephant in an airplane seat. Thankfully, my holidays are starting today, so I’m free to blog more!

That also means this marathon won’t last forever. Right now I have about two weeks of pretty free time, so make the most of that! If I receive too many requests, I might to start turning people down – if so, sorry, it’s nothing personal. (So get your request in as soon as possible!)

Who can ask for a guest post?

If you want me to write a guest post for your blog, you need to fulfil this long and complicated list of pre-requisites:

  1. Have a blog

Yes, that’s it! I don’t care if it’s a brand new blog, or it’s been around since 1969. I don’t care if you have more readers than Seth Godin, or a blog that’s only read by yourself, your dog (to whom you read it out loud), and a handpuppet (who reads it out loud while your lips move imperceptibly).

I’m more than happy to write a guest post for you :)

What will the the guest post be about?

You choose the topic you want me to write about! Avoid being TOO generic (“how to be happy”). Feel free to be as specific as you want – that makes it more fun :) .

A couple of things I know a lot about are:

  • psychology
  • productivity
  • happiness
  • personal relationships (this includes friendships etc.)
  • learning

Of course, feel free to ask for any other topics. If I feel I can’t deliver to your readers on your requested topic, I’ll let you know. (Two topics I know nothing about are legal and financial advice, so avoid those.)

How to request a guest post

Just e-mail me at me@vladdolezal.com

Include:

  • your blog’s web address
  • the topic you want me to cover
  • suggested word length (300-800 is best)
  • a picture of a penguin

The last one isn’t strictly necessary, but it will make me happy :D

And what do I want in return? Well, to be flexible, you have three ways to repay me:

a) your firstborn child
b) $1,000,000 in small, unmarked bills
c) a link back to my blog below the guest post

The choice is yours!

Interested? Just e-mail me!

Ok ….i have two blogs in Greek language , but to write a post in English is not something unusual , as English is a lingua franca on web …So go ahead..I would like you to write a post about parrots and why they talk too much…After i will traslate it in greek so my non-English can also read it
Best regards ,
Dolesal (what kind of name is that)

I’d love to see the parrots post as I live with a parrot who can’t talk yet and I’d like her to read it for motivation! :)

@Ste:

You have a parrot who can’t talk but can read and you’re complaining? Sheesh…

Hi Vlad.

That was a good response to Ste there. You caught him on a big point.

I’m almost tempted to defend myself, but I’d like to point out my last post was supposed to be tongue in beak…

@Ste: So was mine, even though I don’t have a beak! That’s how tongue-in-beaky my comment was!
