Cheers, Stormme!

It's always fun to come up with alternate explanations. But as with the penguin example, you really need to check if they explain all the things we observe, or if they're just superficially applicable. :-)

Very interesting read! I would like to add a slighltly different example using the penguin scenario:

2 penguins are standing 2 meters apart facing each other, inside a circle with a diameter of 20m. Assuming the penguins haven't moved while the circle keeps expanding, just like the ever-expanding universe, the proportion of the distance between the penguins to the size of the circle would be 10%. When the diameter of the circle increases to 2000m, the percentage proportional distance of the penguins would now be 0.1%. In essense, the distance between the penguins will seem to have reduced significantly by 9.9%, yet in actuality, they are still 2m away from each other. This is a very simple example where we assume the size of the penguins themselves stay the same. Also it doesn't attempt to explain the 'belief' of gravity, but it does question the 'belief' of the ever-expanding universe! ;) Infact, this example actually questions whether the universe is actually expanding!

Indeed, beliefs are just our way of explaining various events in our lives. But the past does not determine the future! The past has ceased to exist, therefore holding detrimental beliefs in the present and into the future, is simply unsensible!

I am currently releasing detrimental beliefs and replacing them with useful beliefs, and this has been helpful. You've earned a subscriber!

You're absolutely right. This is one of those concepts that you read about and think "Yeah, yeah, sure, I get it." But you don't. Not really.

And then, one day, you finally get it and just sit there for a few minutes with your mind blown.

Hmmm... I'm sure there are other concepts like that out there, and I'm sure there's a way to speed up the mind-blowing process. I'll have to think about that...

Don't you feel that this concept is one of the most difficult to understand?

I read this entry when it was brand new and now, more than a year from that, I can finally understand it. I've read a lot of other articles that talk about the same subject, and I kinda got them, but like week ago I had this discovery moment when I said: oh my!! I finally got it!!

I'm glad I understood this because I believe it's the base of mind understanding. Cool!

This is a great post and an enjoyable read. I find it interesting how we often get so caught up in our beliefs that to us they are real. I personally believe reality is no more than a convincing perception. If we perceive something to be real, for all intents and purposes .... it is.
