Free Life Coaching Sessions, And The GROW Model Challenge

by Vlad Dolezal on September 10, 2010

(Update: The offer of free life coaching sessions is now over. However, don’t let that stop you from going through the GROW model for your own benefit :) .)

With my summer holidays firmly behind me, I am back to investing most of my energy in life coaching and blogging, to help other people.

And because I have a bit of free time in my schedule in the upcoming weeks… I decided to fill it in by running a competition for some free life coaching sessions!

My long-term goal for my life is to earn enough money through life coaching to live a reasonably comfortable life, and thus free up the rest of my time to help people. Which involves both running this blog, and coaching people who could really benefit from hiring a life coach, but simply can’t afford it.

Now, the first part (making loads of money) will take some time. But luckily, I don’t have to wait to get started on the second part!

I have the perfect opportunity right now to offer some free coaching sessions, because two things have come together. Firstly, I have a bit of free time in the upcoming weeks. And secondly, I just finished my series of posts on the GROW Model, which gives me a perfect way to screen potential candidates!

One of the biggest challenges when running an offer like this is telling the difference between people who jump on board just because it’s free, and people who genuinely have a pressing need to hire a life coach, but simply can’t put up the money right now, for whatever reason.

And today, I will sneakily use the GROW Model to tell the difference ;)

Details of the offer/challenge

Before we get started, if you’re new here and aren’t quite clear about this “life coaching” thing, go read Life Coaching Explained.

Alright, off we go!

What I’m offering: A pack of 4 one-hour life coaching sessions with me over Skype or a landline phone (I’ll pay for the calls), scheduled by mutual agreement.

Application deadline: Thursday 16th September 2010, at 12:00 noon GMT.

What’s up with the offer/challenge bit:

To make sure you really want the life coaching sessions, and aren’t just tagging along because “meh, it’s free”, I have a challenge for you up front, before you ask for the free coaching sessions.

Figure out one area of your life you want some coaching help on, and then go and apply the GROW Model on it.

Then, e-mail me at me@vladdolezal.com, stating:

  • Your name and where you live
  • What area of your life did you decide to apply the GROW Model on
  • What is your ideal goal, and how does it differ from the current situation
  • Some options you came up with to move from your current Reality to your Goal
  • The actions you decided to take within the next week, and when specifically are you planning to take them
  • Any actions you have already taken between applying the GROW Model to your situation and e-mailing me
  • Details of what you would like life coaching on, if I decide to pick you

I will go through all the applications, and see who seems the most committed, determined, and would most benefit from life coaching.

Also, realize that even if you don’t get the free coaching sessions… just going through the GROW Model by itself will have a huge positive impact on your life!

How is life coaching different from just the GROW Model?

It might seem like I’m asking you to do all the work yourself up front. Hey, if you go through the GROW Model yourself, what else is there left to do for me? But the fact is, life coaching offers you far more than just the GROW Model:

  • Experienced help with applying the GROW Model, setting your goals and making sure you do them
  • asking you the right questions to dig deeper into your subconscious, for things you might miss by yourself
  • an insight into your core values (hands down the most useful thing for helping you live a fulfilling life)
  • dozens of advanced techniques depending on your needs – including ways to bust through your limiting beliefs and deal with motivation issues

I would go into more details, but just read Life Coaching Explained for a fuller explanation of life coaching, who it’s for and who it’s not for.

What’s in it for Vlad?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention. What would I like in exchange for the free life coaching sessions?

Quite a simple thing. After we’re done with the coaching, I’d like a few paragraphs from you stating what you honestly thought of the coaching (a so-called “testimonial”), and permission to use that when offering life coaching in the future. That’s all.

As I touched on at the beginning of this post, life coaching is completely aligned with my core values. It’s one of the most satisfying ways to spend my time, and I absolutely love helping people in this way.

Simply coaching a motivated client and seeing all the changes they go through, as they turn from feeling stuck and unsure towards having a clear direction and moving towards the life they want… that will be my reward.

What to do right now

Okay, so what do you do?

Firstly, go read my series of posts about the GROW Model, and apply it to an area of your life.

Secondly, e-mail me at me@vladdolezal.com, asking for the free coaching sessions, and mentioning all the information outlined above.

Thirdly, wait :) . The deadline for applications is Thursday 16th September, at 12:00 noon GMT. I will let you know if you got the coaching soon after that.

Now get on it!

that;s a Good Goal Vlad, you might want to consider selling Ebooks, if it worked you will achieve passive income as you wont have to do anything to get the money :D

@Farouk:

Funny thing, I actually am working on one. But I’ll keep the details secret for now ;) (actually I asked a question about it in my recent survey of FLD readers, and a lot of people showed interest, which gave me a mighty shove forward to keep doing it!)
